Technology and the Future
For the past decade or so there have been many advances in the technology world, and many of those advances have spilled over into classrooms across America. It seems inevidable for teachers to continue teaching using the same methods and the same resources that were once used. With that said, which new pieces of technology do you feel are most useful in your classroom, and which new pieces of technology do you feel will become more mainstream within our classrooms in the future?

I think that facebook and myspace will start to become apart of classes more. With the right uses (like facebook's news feed) teachers can create teacher profiles and post reminders about homework, interesting links and answer students questions in real time.
ReplyDeleteI think class websites and blogs will also be integrated into our classes.
I agree that class websites and blogs will be integrated but I do not see using social networking in class--maybe at a high school level, but I just do not envision using social networking sites at the elementary level. My concern with these sites is the permanent nature of the web. As I look at colleagues' Facebook posts, I wonder if they realize their photos, quizzes, etc. may be viewed by students, parents, administrators. Are there better forums for teacher-student/teacher-family communication?
ReplyDeleteChristina, I totally agree that many of the social networking sites are permanent and while they are useful, I'm not sure if they'll ever be incorporated into the classroom setting. A new forum for teacher-student/ teacher-family communication may be the next step that is taken in education. I often notice that many parents can't find the time to communicate with teachers because of their busy schedules...maybe this is a solution?!?!
